Essential Functions:  

• Leads by modeling and teaching the skills necessary to access, evaluate, and use resources effectively and responsibly
• Provides active learning experiences and opportunities to meet the diverse needs of students
• Assesses student learning before, during, and after lessons; alters instruction to meet group/individual needs
• Promotes reading in traditional and innovative ways such as social media, digital media and print
• Develops initiatives to encourage and engage learners in reading, writing, and listening for understanding and enjoyment
• Leads instruction in digital literacy and internet safety
• Collaborates with classroom teachers and other specialists to develop instructionally sound assignments that include key critical thinking, literacy and social skills, and instructional technology

Education and Experience:

 

Required

• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
• An acceptable rating of prior teaching experience, as applicable. 

Preferred

• Postgraduate Certification in School Librarianship from an accredited college or university
• Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within a specific endorsement area(s)
• Prior experience serving as a School Librarian within a public school system

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 10-Month (200 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually.
