Spotsylvania's Career and Technical Center is seeking a highly skilled and qualified Emergency Medical Technician Instructor to plan and provide engaging learning experiences for students in the field of EMT services. Our Career and Technical Education Instructors develop and implement instructional programs that effectively provide the best possible education for each and every student. Additionally, this role will leverage strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and stakeholders to support student success.

Essential Functions:
- Designs instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, current instructional practices, students, industry, and curriculum goals as outlined by the VA Department of Education Career and Technical Education Programs
- Develops authentic, engaging, hands-on learning lessons and evaluates student progress; provides students with prompt specific evaluative feedback; maintains appropriate records and prepare progress reports
- Implements a classroom management policy that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, Spotsylvania County School Board policy, the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services and administrative regulation
- Develops and maintains contacts and partnerships with local industry professionals
- Develops, maintains, and supervises clinical experiences for EMT students
- Remains current with changes that occur in the industry and discipline of Emergency Medical Technicians
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agency requirements, including the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services

Education and Experience:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field of education or the equivalent in credentialing, training, and/or experience.
- Emergency Medical Technician credential and CPR certification
- Ability to obtain additional/appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
Preferred
- Currently possesses a Technical Professional License within a specific endorsement area(s)
- Prior teaching experience within a vocational educational program

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 10.5-month (210 Day) position. Additional compensation is awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees. New employees to Spotsylvania County will be compensated for up to 20 years of experience.
